The Booker T. Washington High School Foundation awards scholarships annually to graduating high school seniors. The Foundation Scholarship Committee selects the scholars according to established criteria. Students selected must:
- Children or grandchildren of graduates of Booker T Washington High School Columbia, SC with first preference given to children of graduates
- Be in good standing in their schools in academics and citizenship
- Definitely plan to attend college or other school of educational training
These scholarships and other honors bestowed upon scholars are funded by contributions donated by individuals and Alumni Classes of Booker T. Washington High School, Columbia, South Carolina.
In memory of the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee member, Beverly Garrick, the Class of 1963 and the Garrick Family established the Beverly Garrick scholarship. The Beverly Garrick scholarship awards are based on the same criteria as the Fannie Phelps Adams Scholarship. This on-going scholarship is presently funded by contributions generated by the Garrick’s Family.
To honor their aunt in celebration of her extensive contributions to youth, church, and community, the Susan Brown Freeman Scholarship Award was established by Dr. Betty Brown Jones and her husband, Mr. S. Preston Jones. This scholarship is awarded to a high school graduate who plans to enter the Freshman Class at Benedict College.
